Mr. Newman, a Partner at the firm, practices across various areas at Murphy Orlando. His practice includes municipal defense litigation, where he represents public entities, school boards, police officers, and municipal employees, labor and employment litigation, criminal defense, and business litigation, among others. Mr. Newman regularly practices in New Jersey state, federal, and appellate courts, as well as before administrative tribunals like the Office of Administrative Law.

In 2025, after a competitive application process, Mr. Newman was appointed by the United States District Court, District of New Jersey to the Panel of Private Attorneys under the Criminal Justice Act, making him eligible to receive court appointments to represent certain criminal defendants in federal court.

Tyler Newman received his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law, where he was a member of the Community & Transactional Lawyering Clinic. As a Clinical Student-Attorney, Mr. Newman represented allegedly-incapacitated persons in guardianship hearings before the New Jersey Superior Court, counseled start-up businesses and non-profits, and administered low-income decedents’ estates. During law school, he worked in the Office of the New Jersey Coordinator of Addiction Response and Enforcement Strategies (NJCARES), within the Office of the Attorney General, working to combat the State’s ongoing opioid crisis. He additionally served as a Congressional Intern under now-retired, U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer.

He received his undergraduate degree from DeSales University in 2017, with a B.A. in International Business and Finance, and as a four-year member and captain of the Men’s Lacrosse team.
